Ellen Pieroni joined Rockabilly Greg “In the Flamingo Lounge” on Saturday, September 24, 2022 to talk about her career in music.

Ellen Pieroni has always dedicated herself to music. For almost a decade, Ellen has been playing various genres locally – traditional jazz, bluegrass, afrobeat, jam and R&B. Her many projects including: Folkfaces, Intrepid Travelers, Buffalo Afrobeat Orchestra, Blues Stone Groove and as bandleader with her current group, Ellen Pieroni and The Encyclopedia of Soul.

Ellen was the first recipient of the Denton Cottier & Daniels Scholarship with the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 2009. Ellen used her scholarship to go to Bristol Hills Music Camp, where she is now Jazz Ensemble Director.

Ellen’s first band, the Ellen Pieroni Quartet, of which she was bandleader, warmed up the crowd at the Buffalo Music Hall Fame Annual Induction Gala for a few years after her scholarship.

Ellen is currently a Band Director at South Park High School. She has also been a promotor for Nietzsche’s bringing local and touring artists to the venue and currently has started her own promotion company, Lavender Haze Collective.

Ellen is a driving force in the local music scene, and will continue to do so for years to come. As she said in the podcast “it’s in her blood”.
