Educator, journalist and music fan, Elmer Ploetz, joined Rockabilly Greg “In the Flamingo Lounge” to reminisce and tell stories about the many bands he has seen, as well as the music projects he has worked on and that are in progress.

Elmer Ploetz is an associate professor in the Communication Department at SUNY Fredonia, where he teaches journalism. He has taught at Fredonia since 2008, following a 27-year career as a reporter and editor in newspapers, including 23 years at the Buffalo News. Ploetz has also made two documentaries: “Bflo Pnk 1.0,” a history of the early Buffalo punk scene; and “A Toys Story,” the tale of one of the greatest bands of that scene. He has written about music for The News, has created websites for musicians, records and edits music videos and created WNY.FM, the web page and Facebook site archiving music history for the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame. He also wrote all of the songs and sang them on the “They Don’t Write ‘Em” CD, released by the Demo Daddies in 2008.
Elmer also has an archive of music stories that he has written over the years. Click here for stories and click here for Bflo Pnk videos.
