24-year-old, singer-songwriter and producer, Lynz, joined Rockabilly Greg “In the Flamingo Lounge” on January 5, 2023 to talk about her career and share some brand new, unreleased music.
Lynz, from snowy Buffalo, New York, started her musical journey at a young age. At 12 years old, after picking up a family guitar, she found herself playing shows the next week. Lynz started regularly gigging around Buffalo at festivals, benefits, and charity events such as The Food Bank of Western New York, Gaunches Unite!, and Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac’s Music Is Art Festival.
In high school, Lynz taught herself recording and music production via YouTube, inspired by Owl City. Her drive for learning landed her a trip to the Grammy Foundation’s high school music camp. GRAMMY Camp is a 10-day music camp based at the University of Southern California. Lynz attended for audio engineering in 2015. “It was my first chance to finally meet so many others doing what I do in real life,” Lynz says.
Then, in August 2015, Lynz released her first full-length independent album titled Dusk At Dawn. It was written, recorded, and produced by Lynz at home in her room. She completed a successful Kickstarter campaign for the album as well. Not long after, Lynz won the 2016 Buffalo Music Hall Of Fame songwriting competition for her song “Enough.” Winning allowed her to record the song with many Buffalo Music Hall Of Fame members at the Goo Goo Dolls cathedral-like studio GCR Audio in downtown Buffalo.
Recently, Lynz sharpened her skills at Westlake Studios through Cre8 Music Academy (Michael Jackson, The Weeknd, Rihanna) in Los Angeles. Inspired by Jack Antonoff, Lynz began producing for other artists as well. Lynz decided to stay in California, where she plays local shows, works with collaborators, and enjoys the sunshine!
