This is the 50th Episode of “In the Flamingo Lounge” with Rockabilly Greg. To celebrate, Rockabilly Greg went into the archive and is re-broadcasting the “Music Legacies and Legends” event with Ramblin’ Lou Schriver, originally held on September 15, 2015.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2015, the Buffalo Broadcasters Association and the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame co-sponsored “Music Legacies and Legends” at the Buffalo History Museum. The guest of honor that night was one of the most famous and well-respected music performers and radio personalities in Buffalo: Ramblin’ Lou Schriver. The MC for the event was Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Inductee and Vice President, and current guest musician with the Ramblin’ Lou Family band, Tom Lorentz.
Tom had told the story that Ralph Emory from Nashville had tried to get Lou on his show for years, but Lou never went.
Lou couldn’t believe that anyone would want to come and listen to him tell stories. Well, people did. In attendance amongst a very attentive crowd, were Lou’s wife, Joanie Marshall, the Schriver family and legendary broadcasters Sandy Beach and Danny Neaverth.
It was a special night, and I was honored to be present. A reception was held beforehand where I had the chance to meet Ramblin’ Lou and get my album signed by him and Joanie. I also had the honor to speak with Lou and get my picture taken with him and his custom-made Niagara Falls “Nudie suit”, that was created by the legendary American tailor, Nudie Cohn.
Lou is no longer with us – but his legacy continues to shine. I hope you enjoy this episode with a true Buffalo Legend.
