About This Episode:

2023 Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Inductee, Peggy Farrell with Educator and 2015 Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Inductee, Linda Lombardo Appleby at the 2023 Press Conference announcing Peggy’s induction.

On Saturday, September 2, 2023, Rockabilly Greg went on location to meet with jazz icon, and 2023 Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Inductee, Peggy Farrell where they had a ball, and a lot of laughs, talking about Peggy’s musical journey.

Peggy has been singing all her life and has performed all over the US. While working at the Statler Hotel in Buffalo she started singing with Anne Fadale who insisted she try out for a talent show, which she won. Peggy was an elevator operator and Anne had heard Peggy singing in the elevator, and asked her to park her elevator during her break and audition for Anne’s radio show. Later on in her career, she spent 18 years with the legendary pianist Al Tinney after meeting him in the Cloister in Buffalo. Their time together included a 5-year run at Fanny’s Nightclub in Amherst where they recorded the CD “Peg & Al” in 2000.

When talking about performing Peggy said “all you have to know is the key and the tempo, and hopefully the lyrics”.

Peggy was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, at the Annual Induction Ceremony on October 4 & 5, 2023.

As part of the festivities, Peggy performed to a very enthusiastic crowd with fellow inductee, Sabu Adeyola, at the Cove on October 5, 2023. Below are a few pictures of her performing at the event. Peggy also performs with The Morgan Street Stompers

The Al Tinney Trio, which featured Al Tinney on keys, Sabu Adeyola on bass and Louie Marino on drums, with Peggy Farrell on vocals.
