Episode 15:

Season 9 – Samantha Hoy

Released: June 20, 2026

About This Episode:

Exploding onto Buffalo’s music scene, Samantha Hoy has raised her voice in celebration of the local soul with gritty intoning, raw belting, and a spirited passion for performance.

The magic began in 2015 when Samantha set sail as the sole owner and operator of a local costume-character business formerly known as Crowns & Gowns. Leading her adept and whimsical team, she performed at local events and parties, appearing as beloved storybook characters. Originating from her love of cosplay, she steered her personal passion through a transformation from a simple love of playing dress-up into a significant career, complete with a crew and full production.

In 2019, Samantha set aside her tiara to travel the country in a new role as a Touring Brand Manager. During this time, she gained a following online from sharing her cross-country insights and adventures with her ukulele at her side and the wind at her back. As the tide turned in 2020, she once again reinvented herself. After a transformative two years of societal and personal awakening, Samantha returned home where fortune manifested by co-founding her band, Sector 7G. This grungy, 90s-inspired mash-up cover band, which happens to be collectively obsessed with The Simpsons, piqued the interest of a local Pink Floyd tribute band, “The Floyd Concept.” She was eventually brought on as the group’s trusted backup singer, performing some of Pink Floyd’s most iconic songs and tackling “Great Gig in the Sky” as the solo vocalist. Currently on lead vocals for one of Western New York’s newer rock bands, “Bubblegun,” Samantha brings a unique and personable energy that she credits to some of her favorite artists: Thom Yorke, Trent Reznor, and Björk.

Come September of 2026, Samantha will be making her theatrical debut by starring in an homage to the one and only, late, great Janis Joplin. Showcased at D’Youville Kavinoky Theatre in Buffalo, “A Night With Janis Joplin” will be showing for 16 nights, with the final show taking place on Saturday, October 3rd. Samantha joins us “In the Flamingo Lounge” to share the lore of her main quest as a dedicated professional singer and humble, rugged vocalist. In combination with her bands and lead role, more is in the works for Buffalo’s own talented and ambitious Samantha Hoy. Be sure to stay tuned to Samantha’s journey by following her on Instagram and Facebook.

Samantha sat down with Rockabilly Greg In the Flamingo Lounge on June 8 to share her stories and an original track from “Bubblegun.” Samantha  is a star on the rise.
